Emergency First Aid Kits in the Woods

When you are in your own home, it is to be expected that in a pinch a neighbor and a phone can be there at some point to help in an emergency.  This should not be relied upon as stated in the earlier post, and for good reason, but eventually, someone will come a-running if you called.  When you are in the woods, even this luxury is not something that you can expect.

In the woods, you could be all alone with a paddle to row home and you cannot expect anyone to come at all.  When this happens, preparedness goes into the red zone.  If you are not prepared in this circumstance death and serious illness may be knocking at your door.  So before you head of to the open wilderness, remember to bring basic emergency medical kits with you.  In a life or death situation, you will never regret bringing anything that may be of value with you.

When Disaster Strikes

Disasters disrupt hundreds of thousands of lives every year. Each disaster has lasting effects, both to people and property. If a disaster occurs in your community, local government and disaster-relief organizations will try to help you, but you need to be ready as well. Local responders may not be able to reach you immediately, or they may need to focus their efforts elsewhere.

You should know how to respond to severe weather or any disaster that could occur in your area – hurricanes, earthquakes, extreme cold, flooding, or terrorism. You should also be ready to be self-sufficient for at least three days. This may mean providing for your own shelter, first aid, food, water, and sanitation. One of the best ways to ensure that you have everything that you need is with emergency preparedness kits.
